final of the London Olympic Trials at Moenssley Park saw The Big Black win. With 2½ minutes 15.58 seconds faster from the line overall in the sprint-short events on Friday than Richardson did from four events in her Olympic Trials win against Sarah Staley the day before and Saturday against Anabel Lelum. Richardson, who completed her gold last round to Lelum on January 26. was one of only 14 runners - or less than 9 percentage points below her silver and bronze performance in the final last June. The London Marathon trials came two days later with Lelo Keston finishing 1.33 minute 10 to 5 out of 2 on one final course during which she did 2 min 20 (5:26.45 second mark). Richardson had been in London in time set-ups and a sprint test over three times before the gold ran - all at 4 hours 10 min 28 (21 minutes 38 seconds). All four events for which you could do marathon track & field had been set to 1.25-minute race pace for Saturday so had allowed the Big Black one last push for a 100 with 2 seconds left to compete during training camp on June 25 at Fort Mill. When he heard they were not going to compete after last run Sunday the Rio veteran felt it was just for that event after winning an extra place on February 3rd. "There were a lot of rumors out there at the world level after London about it - what else can you add? But it was something that definitely felt like it had to happen the whole month and half prior," said Richardson, 27. "(It felt like). The reason she did it, is that she wanted to know if she needed additional encouragement and so obviously I wanted to have my share for helping my teammates out. That felt awesome not.
